Is there anything more amazing than this Poppy Seed Bread? NOPE. This is hands
down THE greatest tasting! I first had this 11 years ago when I lived in California. My friend Carrie Lopez
had these as party favors all wrapped up for Christmas. I have never stopped making it since then. When it is my husband birthday, this bread is always the #1 choice! So yes, we poke candles into it and he is one happy man. I always freeze the extra loaves… They taste phenomenal right out of the freezer!!!
As the Holidays are approaching, this is your perfect little treat to share with the ones you love.
3 cups flour
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 Tablespoon poppy seed
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/8 cups oil
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
*Beat together for 2 minutes until smooth. Pour into pans
Bake at 350
(for 5 mini loaves 35-40 minutes (I bake this size)
for medium loaves 50-60 minutes
They should look a nice brownish color around the edges. Also, insert a toothpick or sharp knife to make sure it is done. Remove from oven and IMMEDIATELY pour glaze over each loaf while HOT.
1/4 cup orange juice
3/4 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons melted butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
*Let cool in pans. Carefully remove from pans after 1/2 hour. Be SURE to spray pans with non-stick cooking spray. Wrap each loaf in plastic wrap then freeze, putting 2/3 loaves in large zip-lock bag then in freezer. Thawed, they taste just as good as a fresh loaf. ENJOY~
